Megalosaurus

Megalosaurus is the predatory biped dinosaur of the middle of the Jurassic period. The remains of this dinosaur were found in the Southern England, France and Portugal. It was one of the first found and described dinosaurs.
These dinosaurs reached nine meters in length and were the biped animals who hunted the smaller dinosaurs. The structure of the vertebra allows saying that their neck was rather plastic. The back legs were rather strong to hold the weight of the animal. The front legs were rather short. The back legs had three fingers two of which were directed forward and the third one was directed backwards.
These animals were hunters. That is why they ate smaller dinosaurs and sometimes the dinosaurs of their sizes, but sometimes they also ate the carrion.
The part of the Megalosaurus bones was found first in Great Britain. And this turned into stone part of the bone was sold to Robert Plot who was the professor of the Oxford University. He was the first to give the first descriptions of this animal, but he couldn't figure it out what this animal was.
Later this bone became the reason of interesting confusion. First this bone was considered to be the Scrotum humanum because it was similar to the human scrotum.
By the year 1850 scientists were considered to be the big four-legged animals that were something middle between the crocodiles and the mammals. And when well-kept skeletons were found, scientists understood they were biped.
