Some other theories

There are several theories that were made to explain the extinction of dinosaurs. And one of them is the theory of multiple impact events.
This theory is based on the theory of several consecutive strikes of Earth. This theory is also used to explain the fact that the extinction was gradual and not the sudden. And it can be also indirectly proven by the fact that the meteor that formed the Chicxulub crater was the part of bigger and greater meteor. Some geologists say that the crater Shiva that is situated on the floor of the Indian Ocean is the trace of the fall of the second great meteor. But such point of view is disputable.
There is also the theory according to which the reason for dinosaurs' extinction was the explosion of supernova star. This explosion influenced the Earth surface with the gamma-ray burst.
There are also variations of theories. One of them is similar to the astrological theory according to which our planet was hit by the meteor. And there is the theory that the planet was hit by the comet. And in the result of such hit, dinosaurs as well as other maritime and land animals died. However some species managed to survive.
But these theories are not rather popular among scientists. And the majority of them support the astrological theory. However these scientists are physicians, astronauts, etc. but not palaeontologists. Recently researchers started to pay attention to other less proven and less popular theories to find the answer at last.
