The meteor theory

One of the most popular in scientific sphere theories about the extinction of dinosaurs is the astrological theories and the meteor theory in particular.
According to this theory the reason for dinosaurs' extinction was the fall of asteroid. This theory is based on the same time when the Chicxulub crater appeared (that is the trace of the asteroid fall with the size 10 kilometres and it happened 65 million years ago) on the island Yucatan in Mexico and the extinction of the majority of dinosaurs' types.
Moreover, the astrological and physical researches (based on the researches of the modern asteroids) show that asteroids with the size more than 10 kilometres hit Earth about once 100 million years. And if to consider this fact then every 100 million years some species of animals and plants also disappear from the surface of Earth. So the conclusion can be made that these huge meteors damage flora and fauna of Earth falling from space about once 100 million years.
It is necessary to mention that the majority of those who support this theory are not palaeontologists but scientists of other sciences such as astrology, geologists, physicians, etc. The concentration of some physical elements in some spheres of the atmosphere and lithosphere also prove this theory.
So, this theory is the most popular but still is not proven till nowadays. Of course such theory is rather convincing but not so convincing to persuade palaeontologists.
